We are thus seeking applications from highly qualified and experienced individuals for the following position.

Location: Kampala-Uganda with expected travels to research sites, including rural and underserved areas.

Job Role: Develop, review and monitor the implementation of health research and program management initiatives to strengthen health systems with impactful program outcomes aligned to anecca’s mission and MOH guidelines.
Key Result Areas:

  1. Develop and monitor the implementation of budgets and workplans for health research and program management initiatives in line with anecca strategic objectives and financial guidelines.
  2. Develop and maintain strategic partnerships and networks with various stakeholders including NGOs, academic Institutions, private sector, District Health Teams, government agencies, MOH and donors to advocate for comprehensive, relevant and harmonized implementation of various health research & other related program initiatives in line with anecca program objectives and MOH guidelines.
  3. Maintain a competent & motivated “supervised program team” through providing constructive appraisal feedback, coaching and mentoring in line with the anecca-Uganda Human Resources policies& procedures.
  4. Review, develop guidelines for monitoring program performance, impact and implement data quality improvement plans responsive to the needs of the health and research program thematic areas in line with anecca MEL guidelines.
  5. Review, prepare and present periodical program reports & other deliverables internally and to other stakeholders in line with anecca reporting writing procedures.
  6. Review, develop and monitor the implementation of procedures for conducting operational and conventional research for grants& fundraising proposal writing, data collection, writing of technical briefs, abstracts and articles for publications or presentation at national and international conferences in line with anecca research objectives& guidelines.
  7. Develop and monitoring the implementation of guidelines for conducting literature reviews to support research projects and program development in line with anecca research objectives& guidelines.
  8. Perform & review statistical data analysis outputs, interpret data, write up research reports, publish and disseminate research findings in accordance with the approved research proposals and research guidelines.
  9. Review and monitor the implementation of research needs assessments, program evaluations and impact assessments in line with anecca program evaluation procedures
  10. Develop and monitor the implementation of project staff capacity building plans (i.e. training, mentorship, support supervision, learning and adaptation sessions) based on identified needs, responsive to the implementation of various health research & other related program initiatives or thematic areas in line with anecca training and development guidelines.
  11. Represent anecca at external meetings, conferences, events whenever delegated and performance any other duties and responsibilities that may be assigned by the supervisor.
    Required Education, Experience & Other Personality Attributes.
  • MBChB (Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery) and MMED (Master of Medicine) or MPH (Master of Public Health). Doctoral degree is an added advantage.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in program management and health research within an NGO or similar setting.
  • Demonstrated expertise in managing complex health programs, with strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Proficiency in research methodologies, data analysis, and report writing.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of both qualitative and quantitative research methodologies.
  • Proficiency in data analysis software (e.g., SPSS, STATA, NVivo, R) and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
