The USAID LPHS-Karamoja Activity seeks to enhance support to the Government of Uganda public health sector to implement a comprehensive high quality integrated TB/HIV activity through a health system strengthening approach in Abim, Amudat, Kaabong, Karenga, Kotido, Moroto, Nabilatuk, and Napak, Nakapiripirit districts, Karamoja region.
USAID’s Local Partner Health Services – Karamoja Activity is a five-year project (2021-2026) supporting the public health sector to increase the availability, accessibility, and utilization of quality integrated HIV and TB services for the people of five districts (Abim, Kaabong, Karenga, Kotido, and Moroto) in Karamoja.
Specifically, USAID’s Local Partner Health Services – Karamoja Activity is to ensure:
- Quality facility-based HIV and TB prevention services provided at scale
- Quality, targeted, high yield, facility, and community-based HIV testing, and counseling services provided at scale
- All diagnosed people living with HIV and TB are promptly initiated on treatment
- All diagnosed people living with HIV and TB on treatment achieve viral suppression
- Target districts have the institutional capacity to sustain epidemic control and maintain the response
